Cédric: from Design Engineer to Manager… A career focused on Industrialization

Cédric, could you tell us about your career at Pyroalliance?

“I have been working at Pyroalliance for 21 years. I have an Advanced Technician Certificate (BTS) in Production Mechanics and was initially destined for a position in Industrialization or Tooling, but I actually started at Pyroalliance as a Deign Engineer, a position I  held for 9 years.

I then became Workshop Manager for 7 years, followed by 5 years as an Industrialization Technician. And for the past few weeks, I have been an Industrialization Engineer.”

You need to give yourself time. Moving into management takes up around 15 to 20% of your time during the process, but before that, you also need to take a step back in order to progress!

In your opinion, what are the 3 main qualities needed to move into a management position at Pyroalliance?

“First, I would say you need to be able to accept criticism in order to bounce back from it, with an open mind.

Second, perseverance: you need to be proactive and not wait for someone to come and find you, because it is first and foremost a personal initiative.

And finally, a little self-confidence, so you are not afraid to take on challenges.”

Becoming a manager: a possible career path at Pyroalliance

“This project of moving into management started when I was working in the Workshop. But from the very begenning, I was always trying to look at the bigger picture.

When I was a Design Engineer, I wanted to go beyond the design/drawing aspect and get involved in prototyping/assembly.

I kept asking to go to the Workshop, and that is actually how I became Workshop Manager.

At that time, I wasn’t able to make my request to move into management heard.”
