Flight Termination solutions

Pyroalliance designs and produces different kinds of Flight Termination Systems for tactical missiles. Those systems are embarked on missiles which are fired on military test ranges, typically in the frame of the testing and qualification process of the related missiles. Their function is to terminate the flight and protect the test range as well as the populated areas in case the missile dangerously deviates from its nominal trajectory.They are designed and manufactured under Pyroalliance design authority.

Separation solutions

Pyroalliance designs and manufactures a wide range of pyrotechnic cutters involved in release or safety functions by instantly cutting a rod or a cable. We can address a variety of cable shapes and materials (cords to hard metals). On missile systems they can be used for instance on flight termination functions.Pyroalliance also designs and produces a series of explosive bolts for defense applications. These explosive bolts are designed to break the mechanical link of a clamp band and separate a solid booster stage. They are a key component of the propulsion function reliability and safety.

Cutting/fracturing solutions

Pyroalliance offers a wide range of RDX/Lead Bendable Linear Shaped Charges (BLSCs) tailored to the defense markets.
Those REACH compliant cords are used to cut off all types of materials: metallic (steel, slight alloy, titanium, etc.) as well as laminates of glass, carbon or Kevlar. In particular, they deliver very precise and very fast cuts in severe environmental conditions. They can be used for various functions on defense platforms like separation or flight termination functions.

Circuit opening / closing solutions

Pyroalliance designs and produces different kinds of hermetic pyrotechnic valves used in the complex fuel management system of missile turbojet engines:
– Tank Vent valve
– One-way fuel valve – Normally Closed
– Two-ways fuel valve – Normally Closed / Normally Open

Actuating solutions

Pyroalliance designs and produces a wide range of pyrotechnic actuators.
Pyrotechnic rams are for instance involved in the deployment or the retracting of a piston. A typical application is for missiles for which actuators are involved in the deployment of flight surfaces.
Pyroalliance also designs pyrotechnic Pin Pullers and Pin Pushers used on missiles or aircraft. Those are dedicated to maintain the holding position of a mechanism aiming to be deployed or ejected after the pin is activated. In most cases it will prevent the linear or rotational motion of an object.

Transmission solutions

Pyroalliance designs and manufactures several types of pyrotechnic transmission cords which are further integrated into transmission lines with various diameters, sizes, shape connections or cladding.
The Mild Detonating Cord is used to transmit detonating signals. Such signal can be received from another detonating line (via a manifold), a detonator or a Slapper. It is transmitted to a terminal function such as a Through Bulkhead Initiator (TBI) for solid rocket ignition or a cutting cord (for separation or flight termination functions).
Pyroalliance also designs and manufactures several types of pyrotechnic Deflagrating Transfer Lines with various diameters, sizes, shape connections or cladding.
The Deflagrating Transfer Line is mainly used to transmit a signal and activate a terminal function (typically a pyro-mechanism for the deployment of fins or rudders).

Initiation solutions

Pyroalliance designs and produces a series of Through-Bulkhead Initiators (TBIs) for defense applications. TBIs are designed to convert a detonating input into an ignition function, typically to ignite the propellant of a Solid Rocket Motor. Tightness is guaranteed between upstream and downstream side of bulkhead, preventing any loss of pressure.
TBIs are a key component of the propulsion function reliability and safety. Combined with other products from Pyroalliance, TBIs are part of pyro-chains for Solid Rocket Motors.
