SIAE 2025 - Pyroalliance focuses on pyrotechnic innovation for space and New Space

The French company, a specialist in pyrotechnic devices for launchers and satellites, is presenting two innovative product ranges at the Paris Air Show: low-shock separation nuts and turnkey neutralisation systems, designed to meet the requirements of both conventional and New Space markets.

Pyroalliance is a key player in the field of pyrotechnic equipment for aerospace, defence, aeronautics and industry. Created in 1997 from the merger of two historic entities founded respectively in Toulon (1957) and Les Mureaux (1987).

The company designs pyrotechnic motorisation solutions (separation nuts, safety devices and cutting systems) for a global customer base ranging from Ariane to Vega, which includes satellite manufacturers in Europe, Asia and the United States.

At the 2025 Paris Air Show, Pyroalliance is unveiling its “Sep&Fly®” range

“Sep&Fly®” range, a new generation of separation nuts fitted to launchers, which hold satellites and then release them once in orbit.

Through the use of very small quantities of energy materials (in milligrams).

And an innovativ shock absorption design, mechanical shocks during separation have been reduced by a factor of four.

This major advance brings the performance of pyrotechnic systems closer to that of non-explosive mechanisms, while offering reliable remote activation even after years of passive storage.

“The main development compared with previous years is the reduction of induced shocks. Much work has been done in recent years to limit these phenomena. We’ve reduced them by a factor of over four thanks to our equipment,” says Nicolas Veaux, Director of Sales and Programmes.

Modularity is a key aspect of this range: several sizes are offered to fit a wide gamut of satellites, from a few hundred kilos to several metric tons, right up to geostationary models.

These nuts can also be used to release solar panels or antennas into orbit. Pyroalliance works directly with satellite manufacturers (Airbus DS, Thales Alenia Space) and launch structure designers to offer ready-to-use solutions that can be ordered in small or large series, including for large constellations.

The company is unveiling Guard&Fly®, a range dedicated to the neutralisation of launchers.

“This is a self-destruct system that prevents a rocket or satellite falling to earth with the full force of its weight in the event of a problem. Guard&Fly® will fragment the device so that only small parts fall, which will be scattered,” explains Nicolas Veaux.

The result of cooperation with ArianeGroup and Avio, this complete chain (from activation to cutting) includes pyrotechnic transmission lines, late-arming safety housings and cutting strips suited to all types of vehicle, including the New Space micro- and mini-launchers.

In line with the requirements of the Guiana Space Centre, this system is designed to offer a standardised, modular and cost-effective solution for securing the first flights of new space players.
